Mr. Cleonza “Milk Man” Jones, 69, of 34315 U.S. Highway 64 West, Jamesville, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Dr. General M. James officiating. Burial will follow in Williams/Ruffin family cemetery, Jamesville.
Mr. Jones was born in Williamston on Sept. 3, 1939. He was the son of the late Blanche Williams Ruffin and Therosius Jones. He was married to Barbara Jean Brown Jones, who survives. He worked as a machine operator with Weyerhaeuser until his retirement. He was a member of Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Sara Pinner of Plymouth, Ernest Brown of Williamston, Merle Brown of Junction City, Kan., and Sherri Anthony and Sharita Jones, both of the home; his siblings, Viola Wallace, Inez Sutton and Janice Bell, all of Jamesville, Earl Ruffin of Hampton, Va., Carl Ruffin of Salisbury, and Ronald Ruffin of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Theresa Jones, Pauline Ghee and Jeralena Barnes.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service, Roper.
