Mrs. Sally T. Spence, 96, formerly of Aurora, died at Britthaven of Pamlico on Saturday, February 28, 2009.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 3, at the Aurora Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at High Hill Cemetery in Aurora and services will be conducted by Claud Nethercutt and Wesley Taylor.
Mrs. Spence was born on August 25, 1912 in Aurora and was the daughter of the late Bryan Bonner and Mattie Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Myers, TR, and Max Thompson of Aurora, Charlie Thompson of New Bern and by her sisters, Bonner and Martha Thompson of Aurora. She was a long time member of the Aurora Methodist Church and the Methodist Women.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie S. Walker and husband, Webster, of Aurora and Jane S. Edwards and husband, Gerry, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Brandon Walker and wife, Tina, of Gastonia, Derek Walker and wife, Nicole, of Huntersville, Jennifer W. Cooney and husband, Richard, of Waxhaw, and Amy E. Phelps and husband, Tim, of Charlotte, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by her family and friends.
