Mr. Leon Taylor “L.T.” Harris, age 83, of 2545 Bayview Road, Bath, passed away at his home Sunday, March 1, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. The Rev. Ray Souza will celebrate his life with family and friends. Burial will follow in the church columbarium.
L.T. was born in Washington in 1925 to Helen Cox Harris and Lemuel D. Harris, and was a graduate of Washington High School in 1943 at the height of WWII. He immediately joined the US Navy. After the war L.T. attended Campbell College and then ECTC. He returned home and went into business with his father, owner of Harris and Elsen Plumbing and Heating. He was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington, and then later a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Bath.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Nan Barnes Harris, daughters Brien Harris Campbell of Wilmington, and Alice Harris Faucette and her husband Walker of Bath; granddaughters Sarah Anne and Katherine Faucette of Bath, and Taylor and Morgan Campbell of Wilmington and their father Dwight Campbell of Wilmington.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Harris Asby.
The family will receive friends at the home, 2545 Bayview Road, Bath from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
