Coming off a solid 2008, expectations are soaring for the 2009 Washington Pam Pack track teams.
Head coach Jon Blank has high hopes that his team will finish at the top of the Coastal Conference standings this year.
Just as in years past, the conference is full of athletes on each team.
Blank is anticipating competitive meets all season.
Washington was scheduled to begin the season Tuesday, but frigid temperatures prompted a postponement. The Pack will start the season Thursday at West Craven.
Leading up to the season-opener, Blank has had his athletes working diligently.
Blank pointed out a handful of athletes who he’ll be counting on for big seasons.
Blank will be looking for his young athletes and some newcomers, including seniors Davey Ann Burbage and Jordan Cantrell, to contribute this year. Burbage played softball the previous three years, while Cantrell is in her first year at WHS after transferring from Terra Ceia.
The Pack will have its first home meet March 24.
