Mr. Johnie Woodard, 95, of 2705 N.C. Highway 94, Columbia, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia, with the Rev. Lawrence Satchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Woodard was born in Tyrrell County on Dec. 18, 1913. He was the son of the late Pauline Brickhouse and Joe J. Woodard. He was a widower and had been employed as a farmer.
Survivors include five sons, Robert Woodard Jr., Octavis Woodard, Prentic Woodard and Rockie Woodard, all of Maryland, and Preston Woodard of Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Mary Brown, Marjorie Jolly and Melia Woodard, all of Maryland, and Brenda Brooks of Washington, D.C.; one brother, James Bryant of New York; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
