Mrs. Mary S. Williams of 841 W. Third St., Washington, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Britthaven of Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Brother Orville Day officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born March 26, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Brimage Smith. She was a graduate of P.S. Jones High School and attended Saint Augustine College in Raleigh. She graduated from Beaufort County Community College with an associate degree in business administration. She was married to Alphonso Williams, who survives. She was employed for 25 years by the federal government as a travel agent specializing in airline reservations for military personnel. She retired from the submarine base in New London, Conn.
Survivors include four sisters, Vestie S. Spencer of Augusta, Ga., Carolyn Rogers of Chocowinity, and Sarah E. Smith and Mazel S. Boston, both of Washington; seven brothers, Floyd Smith and Melvin Smith, both of Washington, Lloyd Smith of Norfolk, Va., Oscar Smith of Yonkers, N.Y., Joseph Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., Bishop Franklin E. Smith of Greenville and Charles W. Smith of El Paso, Texas; four godchildren, James and Jamar Thigpen, both of Jamesville, Lajshon Thompson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Carolyn Mitchell of Greenville and one sister-in-kind, Cora Thompson of Greenville.
The family will receive friends today from 6-7 p.m. at Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, and other times at the home.
