Mr. Forrest Willard Gurganus, age 81, a resident of 3246 Mary’s Chapel Church Rd. Aurora, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Craven Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Mary’s Chapel Christian Church and will be conducted by Mike Oliver. Burial will follow in the Cuthrell Cemetery. Johnny Woolard, Eddie Gurganus, Tom Walker, Jon Brinson, Jason Wank and Kenny Asby will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Gurganus was born in Pitt Co. on October 24, 1927 to the late David and Carrie Dixon Gurganus. On June 27, 1964 he married Adelene Mae Bennett who survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Belvoir High School and was a member of Mary’s Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Adelene B. Gurganus of the home, one daughter; Olivia Leggett and husband Johnny of Washington, one son; William Leary and wife Patsy of Washington; four grandchildren, Tripp Leggett, Misty Norman, Shane Leary, Sharon Humes, five great grandchildren; three brothers; Ray Gurganus of Washington, Russell Gurganus of Washington, David Gurganus of Greenville and one sister; Margaret Woolard of Washington. Mr. Gurganus was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends at the home, 3246 Mary’s Chapel Church Rd. Aurora.
