Mrs. Wanda Sawyer Stoop, age 59, a resident of 19335 NC Hwy. 32 N., Plymouth, NC, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday April 2, 2009 at the Plymouth Church of the Nazarene and will be conducted by Pastor Tim Lichtley and Pastor Steve Creech. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington. Robin Bowen, Jeffery Stoop, Davy Bowen, Charlie Wilson, John Carr and John Reason will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Stoop was born in Beaufort County on October 27, 1949 to the late Ormond and Edna Potts Sawyer. On April 4, 1987 she married Andrew Paul Stoop who survives. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and retired as owner and operator of Stoops Upholstery.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew P. Stoop of the home, her children, David Bowen and wife Pat of Villa Rica, GA, Carmen R. Joyner of Plymouth, Melissa Stoop Alligood of Pinetown, Jeffery P. Stoop of Plymouth, grandchildren, Athenia Holt of Villa Rica, GA, Shannon Johnson of Calhoun, GA, Davy Bowen of Leland, NC, Sydney Joyner of Ayden, Miranda Joyner of Ayden, Tyler R. Alligood of Pinetown, Jessica R. Roberson of Pinetown, great grandchildren, Cody D. Holt of Villa Rica, GA, Hali Johnson of Calhoun, GA, several aunts and uncles, Mary Lou Piddley, Zella Stassfort, Ruth S. Hopkins, Rachel Lonburger, Floyd Sawyer, William Sawyer, Gloria Fotusky, and Ruebin Edward Sawyer. Mrs. Stoop was preceded in death her granddaughter, Carmen Miranda Dozier, her brother, Buddy Sawyer and her nephew, Craig Boyd.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home, 19335 NC Hwy. 32 N., Plymouth, NC 27962.
