Pam Pack sweeps Havelock

Austin Thompson’s first career home run helped give the Washington Pam Pack a thrilling 9-5 come-from-behind win over the Havelock Rams in Friday’s prep baseball action.
The Pack (6-4, 3-3) trailed 5-0 before mounting a late rally in this Coastal Conference clash. Washington pulled within a run thanks to a four-run sixth, then took the lead with an explosive five-run seventh.
Christopher Everett, who had two hits, led off the seventh with a double. Thompson followed with a two-run blast to give Washington the lead. Coach Darin Vaughan’s squad tacked on a couple more insurance runs after that.
Hatteras Brooks was credited with the victory.
Washington returns to action Monday at home in a 5 p.m. game against Northside.
Watson fans 18 in win
Charity Watson fanned 18 batters and Kristi Wood had a pair of hits as the Washington Lady Pam Pack picked up a 3-0 win over Havelock.
Watson, Brittany Bryant, Morgan Bryant, Kayla Spain and Lily Ann Arnold also had hits. Spain delivered a key RBI.
The Pack (4-2, 2-0) plays at West Carteret on Tuesday and at D.H. Conley on Thursday.
JV Pack wins
The junior varsity Lady Pack notched a 7-5 win over Havelock.
Brandi Hardison and Caroline Smith did the pitching for Washington. Sydney Gurkin and Robin Lilley had three hits, while Kristen Williams and Lauren House had two.
Pungo baseball wins
Drew Elliott had five hits, Zack Credle four and Tyler Mann, Dylan Woolard and Chris Smith all had three as the Pungo Raiders topped Albemarle 16-4.
Woolard also got the win for Pungo (1-6), which plays Monday at Northeast.
Terra Ceia falls
Terra Ceia’s softball team (7-2, 2-2) fell 6-1 to Hobgood.
Morgan Boyd, who fanned 11, and Chandler Furlough had hits.
The Knights play Monday at Albemarle.
