GREENVILLE — Mrs. Jewel Fulghum Broome, 83, died Sunday, April 5, 2009.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Aurora United Methodist Church. A committal service will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery, Hwy. 39 North in Louisburg, NC at 3:30 p.m.
Mrs. Broome, a native of Wake County, made her home in Aurora after marriage to John C. Broome. After raising her family in Aurora, she moved to Greenville in 1977. In Greenville she worked as a nurse at Pitt County Memorial Hospital and at Greenville Pediatrics until her retirement. She was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.
Mr. Broome preceded her in death in 1966.
She is survived by: daughters, Betty Reece Price and husband, Bill, and Mary Kathryn Jennings all of Greenville; son, David Charles Broome of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Wanda Gill Broome of Raleigh; sister, Jean Catherine Hudgins of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Eugene Sherrod Fulghum Jr. and wife, Pat, of Rome, NY; grandchildren, Bryant Nichols and husband, Shane, Nichole Allen and husband, Ted, Danielle Ashley and husband, Charles, Kendall Commodore and husband, Brian, Carmen Broome and Johnathan Broome; 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Aurora United Methodist Church Roof Fund, C/O Lynn Edwards, Treasurer, 68 Four Paws Road, Aurora, NC 27806.
