Mr. Spencer Ray Woolard

Mr. Spencer Ray Woolard, age 82, a resident of 4499 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC went to be with His Lord on April 5, 2009.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday April 8, 2009 at the Rosemary Church of Christ officiated by Mike Caton and Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in the Woolard Family Cemetery. The Elders and Deacons of Rosemary Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on July 26, 1926, son of the late Howard Woolard and Lelia G. Woolard. He retired with 33 years of service in the forestry division of Weyerhaeuser. Twenty of those years were served in the Plymouth division and 13 years in the New Bern division. On October 25, 1946, he married the former Daisy Main who survives. Mr. Woolard was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ, a former member of the Red Men’s Lodge and a member of the Beaufort County Grange Club.
In addition to his wife, Daisy, of the home, he is survived by his four children: Linda Miller and husband, Don of Humble, TX, Clara Woolard of Washington, Dianna Dunn and husband, Garey of New Bern and Kathy Boyd of Washington; his brother, Hertford Woolard and his wife, Sally of Washington; three sisters in law: Nora Woolard of Chocowinity, Viola Woolard and Nina Woolard both of Washington; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter: Faye M. Woolard; three sons in law: William Robert Woolard, Jr., Michael Donicz Boyd and Leary Ford Meekins; two grandchildren: Angela Lynn Woolard and William Anthony Woolard; three sisters: Silvellen Woolard, Gladys G. Woolard and Vernice Woolard; three brothers: Etheridge Woolard, Mayhew Woolard and Floyd Woolard; his half sister: Lucy Woolard and three half brothers: Albert Woolard, Charlie Woolard and Bonner Gray Woolard.
Mr. Woolard was a “good husband, father and PaPa to his family.” “He loved people and was an honor to know. He was devoted to visiting his friends and family.”
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
