Mr. Rockie Lee Powell

Mr. Rockie Lee Powell, 66, went to be with Jesus on April 4, 2009. He was surrounded by his family and especially his devoted loving wife of 41 years Susan.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday April 9, 2009 at Belhaven Assembly of God. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009, at Belhaven Assembly of God and will be conducted by his Pastor Allen Harmon. Burial will follow in the Belhaven Community Cemetery. Edwin S. Griffin, Anthony Hudnell, Jr. Hudnell, Chris Hudnell, Joseph Hudnell, and Brett Carawan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are William O. Gibbs and Don Edmondson.
Mr. Powell was born on April 10, 1942. He graduated from John A. Wilkinson High School in 1960.
He married Susan Daniels Powell on August 5, 1967, who survives. He worked in the grocery business for most of his life. He was a hard and dedicated worker. Mr. Powell was the proud father of two girls, Helen Powell of Orlando, Florida and Suzanne Powell of Plymouth, NC Mr. Powell also leaves behind three grandchildren, Chelsie, Dylan, and Sydney Sawyer. He attended Belhaven Assembly of God.
In addition to his wife and daughters he leaves behind a special cousin/brother, Leon Hudnell and a special mother-in-law, Louise Daniels of Belhaven. In addition two sister in-laws, Joan Hudnell and Donna Carawan, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his father, Clifton R. Powell, his mother Helen B. Gibbs, and his sister Theda H. Gibbs. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. There will never be another Rockie Powell, he will be truly missed.
The family will receive friends at the home, 122 Loblolly Drive Plymouth. Memorials may be contributed to the Rockie Powell Memorial Fund C/O Paul Funeral Home 900 John Small Ave. Washington, NC 27889.
