Washington, NC — Mr. Jackie Norman Tetterton, Sr., age 64, of 681 Asbury Church Road, Washington, NC passed away at his home Friday, April 10, 2009 surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Dr. Frank C. Sheldon officiating. David Ambrose, Linwood Ambrose, Christopher Tetterton, Mike Edwards, Jimmy Tetterton, Clyde Kirk and Bryan Daniels will serve as pallbearers. Bobby Gray Woolard, Dal Tetterton, Mitchell Jackson, Lester Cary, Carl Alligood, Jack Whynn, Larry Nobles, Danny Toler and Tiny Woolard will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Tate Family Cemetery, Belhaven, NC.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour, Monday, April 13, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington and other times at the home.
Mr. Tetterton was born March 25, 1945 in Beaufort County to Hassell Linwood and Arkatie Blanche Boyd Tetterton. Jackie graduated from Bath High School and worked for Texas Gulf, now PCS, for 38 years retiring in 2005. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1964 until 1970. Jackie was a member of Hunters Bridge Church of Christ. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending much time at the Bears Den and Lonesome Dove. Jackie was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His “Papa’s Place” is where he spent much time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Lorene Tate Tetterton he is survived by a son, Jackie Norman Tetterton, Jr. and wife Patsy of Washington; a daughter Kim Tetterton Sulc and her husband Doug of Washington; two stepsons, Dal R. Ormond, Jr. and wife Tlena of Mebane and Ty Ormond and wife Amy of Bath; one brother, Gene Ellis Tetterton of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Dean Tetterton Ambrose and Joann Tetterton Black, both of Washington and grandchildren Brandon Sulc, Kayley Sulc, Christopher Sulc, Lee Chandler, Jr., Amanda Gayle Woolard, Matthew Ray Tetterton, Corey Ray Ormond, Ashley Elizabeth Ormond, T.J. Ormond and Kaitlyn Ormond.
He was preceded in death by one brother Cyril E. “Ted” Tetterton and one sister Brenda Kay Tetterton Edwards.
