Mr. Nelson Swindell Wallace, Sr., age 70, a resident of 1035 W. Bay St. Belhaven, NC died Friday April 10, 2009 at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday April, 13, 2009 at Belhaven Community Cemetery officiated by Linwood Adams.
Mr. Wallace was born in Beaufort County on January 13, 1939 son of the late William Purvis Wallace, Sr. and the late Louise Catherine Waters Wallace. He attended Bath High School and married the former Mary Ella Cleary on September 26, 1964 who survives. Mr. Wallace was a Captain for several Tug Boat Company’s during his lifetime and at the time of his retirement was working for Grady Furlough Company in Chesapeake, VA. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ in Pantego.
Surviving along with his wife Mary of the home is a son: Nelson S. Wallace, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Pinetown; a daughter: Cathy Wallace of Belhaven; his mother-in-law: Julia Cleary Fulford of Belhaven; two sisters: Barbara Ann Wallace of Bath and Helen Marie Wallace Jones of Seminole, FL and three grandchildren: Michael Spencer, Jr., Paige Leigh Wallace and Hayley Michelle Wallace. Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by a grandson: Aaron Nicholas Spencer and a brother: William Purvis Wallace, Jr..
The family will receive friends at the home located at 1035 W. Bay St. Belhaven, NC.
