WINTERVILLE — Charity Watson threw the 15th no-hitter of her career, leading Washington to a 1-0 win over Southern Wayne during Saturday’s D.H. Conley Easter Softball Tournament at the Sara Law Complex.
Watson tossed a one-hitter for the Lady Pam Pack earlier in the day, coming in a 1-0 nod over East Duplin.
Watson fanned 19 batters in the victory over Southern Wayne. The senior, who will play at Pitt Community College next year, carried a perfect game into the seventh inning. Watson lost the perfect game when she walked a batter.
She also drove in the Lady Pack’s lone run, smashing a solo home run.
Brittany Bryant also had a hit for Washington in the win.
Lilly Ann Arnold drove in the winning run in the sixth inning of Washington’s 1-0 victory over East Duplin.
Hayley Stowe banged out a pair of hits and Watson had one.
Watson, who fanned 18 batters in the game, had a no-hitter broken up in the seventh inning.
Watson now has 59 wins, 45 shutouts and 1,056 strikeouts in her career.
The Lady Pack (7-2) will be back in action on Monday when they play at J.H. Rose. The Coastal Conference game begins at 11 a.m.
Coach Doug Whitehead’s team returns to Easter tournament play later that day. Washington will take on Wilson Hunt at 6 p.m. at the Sara Law Complex.
