Maezelle LeMaire Beach, age 80, died on Sunday, April 19, 2009.
Mrs. Beach was born in Lanette, Alabama on December 26, 1928 to the late Theodule Joseph LeMaire and Antho Marshall Greer LeMaire. She was married to Edward Clifton Beach on September 3, 1949, who predeceased her on April 11, 2003.
She attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia and Georgia State University extension in Rome, Georgia. In 1965, Mrs. Beach moved with her family to Williamston and worked at several local businesses and operated and managed the Trailway Bus Station and Western Union. After retirement, she worked part-time for the City of Washington, staffing the Civic Center, and the Senior Resource Center where she taught line dancing and cheerleading. Both groups competed in Senior Olympics finals in Raleigh. Her performing group, The Jazz Ladies, also competed at Senior Olympics in Raleigh and entertained at area churches and club groups.
Mrs. Beach is survived by her two sons, Theo Joseph Beach and his wife, Sue, of Raleigh and Edward Beach of Bear Grass; two daughters, Angela Beach Silverthorne and her husband, Dallas of Chocowinity and Mitzi Beach Kukahiko and husband, Ike, of Everetts; eight grandchildren, Tia Bach, Tara Carter, Dana Newbrough, Chase Beach, T.J. Beach, Corde Kukahiko, Luke Beach and Victoria Kukahiko; and seven greatgrandchildren, Jacqueline Bach, Danielle Carter, Reagan Bach, Madeleine Bach, Grace Carter, Allyson Carter and Samantha Newbrough. Her sister, Anita Herman and her husband, Gene, live in Brooksville, Florida.
A celebration of life service will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Williamston on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home.
