Aileen Etheridge Owens, 89, formerly of Columbia and more recently a resident of Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth died Tuesday evening, April 21, 2009, at Plumblee.
Born in Columbia, July 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Combs Etheridge. She was married to Roscoe Owens, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Soundside Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Friday at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia Chapel. Dr. Jeff Crabtree and Rev. Joe Wynns will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are a daughter, Lexine O. Smith of Columbia; a sister, Hazel E. Norcum of Largo, Florida; grandchildren, Mark Smith and wife, Melinda of Greenville, Joey Smith and wife, Cathey of Columbia and David Smith and wife, Lisa of Greenville; four great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Clara E. Cooper.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of one’s choice.
