CHOCOWINITY — John Bleecker Cooke, III, 71, died Friday, May 08, 2009 at his home in Cypress Landing, surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Bleecker was born June 7, 1937, in Agana, Guam, to the late John Bleecker Cooke, Jr. and Isyl Johnson Cooke. A graduate of the University of Washington, he served three years aboard the USS Whetstone compliments of the United States Navy. Most of his career was related to healthcare.
Bleecker was always active in youth sports, coaching Pop Warner football, and pony league baseball, and spent 20 years refereeing scholastic wrestling. An avid bridge and tennis player, he also loved fishing and boating.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan Henry Cooke.
He is survived by his: wife, Patricia Henry Cooke; sons, John “Jack” Bleecker Cooke, IV; and David Craig Cooke; daughter, Sierra Elaina Cooke; grandsons, Yorgi Spanos, Brandon and Ethan Cooke; granddaughter, Aspen Hartman; brother, Phil Cooke; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at home.
