Mrs. Irene Boyd Waters, age 97, a resident of 506 Main Street, Pinetown, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at her home.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00AM Friday May 22, 2009 at Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Lyman Sheppard and Rev. J.N. Baggett. Burial will follow in the Boyd Cemetery on Long Ridge Road. Fred Howell, Glenn Howell, Ronald Carrow, Richard Carrow, Hughes Boyd and Bobby Davis will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Waters was born in Beaufort County on December 11, 1911 daughter of the late Samuel William Boyd and Fannie Jackson Boyd. On January 3, 1942, she married Addie Edwin Waters who preceded her in death on January 29, 1989. Mrs. Waters was a homemaker and served as the “Avon lady” for many years always taking great care of her customers. She was the founder of the friends of Pinetown flower ministry. Mrs. Waters was a member of the Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church where over the years she had served as a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Waters loved visiting and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Waters is survived by a son; Calvin Waters of Pinetown, a daughter; Rita W. Lee and husband Andy of Garner, NC. Six grandchildren; Edwin Lee and wife LeeAnn of Spartanburg, SC, Adam Lee of Raleigh, NC, Kimberley Jimmerson of Maysville, NC, Kevin Waters and wife Ann of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Kenneth Waters and wife JoAnn of Winterville, NC and Derek Torayno of Stokes, NC, and seven great grandchildren; Dean Waters, Alicia Waters, Lauren Waters, Micheal Waters, April Jimmerson, Thomas Lee and Andrew Lee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Waters is preceded in death by a son; James Stanley Waters, two brothers; Elmer Boyd and Howard Boyd and two sisters; Marie Jordan and Lillie Ruth Boyd.
The family will receive friends on Thursday May 21, 2009 from 7:00-9:00PM at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home located at 506 Main Street, Pinetown, NC 27865.
