Mr. Ernest Lee “June Bug” Nixon, Jr., 76, of 42 Swain Rd., Roper, died May 25, 2009, at Williamston Rehab and Health Center.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Elder Benny Mackey officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel cemetery.
Mr. Nixon was born on March 4, 1933 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Ernest Lee Nixon, Sr., and Essie Jackson Nixon. He was a member of Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Chesson Nixon, and daughter, Carolyn Ann Nixon.
Survivors include three sons: Ronnie Nixon, Siler City, Robert Nixon, Roper, Ronnie E. Nixon (adopted son), Roper; three brothers: Robert Lee Nixon, Roper, Virnest Nixon, Plymouth, Dennis Nixon, Robersonville; nine sisters: Erma Lee Creekmore, Wyandanch, NY, Mary Cabarrus, Creswell, Cherry Clagon, Maggie Nixon, Lucinda Nixon, Maxine Burnette, Alberta Chesson, Diana Nixon, Carolyn Nixon, all of Roper, and twelve grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Bethel Church and other times at 242 Lamb Rd., Roper.
