Jamesville advances to state championships|Top Manteo 5-1 in fourth-round action

JAMESVILLE — The Jamesville Bullets are headed back to the state championships.
The Bullets, the Tideland Conference champions, picked up a 5-1 win over Manteo in Friday’s fourth round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A state playoffs.
Jamesville will be making its first trip to the state championships at Walnut Creek since 2006.
Jamesville picked up wins of 2-1 over Perquimans, 1-0 over Williamston and 4-0 over Camden in the first three rounds of the tournament.
Including Friday’s win over the Manteo Redskins, the top seed out of the Albemarle Conference, the Bullets have outscored the opposition 12-2 in the playoffs.
North Johnson and Pamlico were the two other 1-A teams competing in the 1-A East playoffs. Jamesville will face the winner of that game for the regional championship.
Swain will face either East Surry or North Moore for the 1-A West Regional championship.
In the 2006 state championships, Jamesville opened with a 2-0 win over Pender. The Bullets then fell 7-0 to East Surry and 4-0 to Pender.
The 2009 state championships will be held June 5-6.
