Mr. Wilbur Sheppard

Mr. Wilbur Sheppard, age 88, of 5596 Highway 264 East, Washington, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2009 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Pastor Bill Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jim Rozene, Roger Register, Octavis Wallace, Ted Wallace, Brent White and Ray Collier will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home.
Mr. Sheppard was born February 11, 1921 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Winfield Sheppard and Courtney Woolard Sheppard. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. He held numerous positions with the City of Washington until his retirement. He was married to the former Margaret Foreman, who survives. He was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church serving as a Deacon for many years. 
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Foreman Woolard Sheppard; three sons, Jerry Sheppard and wife, Edna, Glenn Sheppard and wife, Linda of Washington, and Steve Sheppard of Waynesville, NC; one step-daughter, June Woolard of Washington; one sister, Alice Sheppard of Washington; five grandchildren; Debbie Skinner and husband Don, Glenn Sheppard, Jr. and wife Tracey, Wendy Coltrain and husband Chris, Susan Hudson and husband Jamie and Travis Sheppard; six great-grandchildren, Brandy Edwards, Austin Hudson, Kaley Coltrain, Samantha Sheppard, Jesse Skinner and Sara Hudson; and one step-grandchild, Robbie Cartwright.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Rae Woolard Sheppard; one sister, Sally S. Alligood; and three brothers, Murphy Sheppard, Jamie Sheppard, and Jay H. Sheppard.
