Mr. Robert Louis Mozingo, age 80, a resident of 415 Carrow Road, Chocowinity, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 4:30 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Pastor Ronnie Gurganus. The family will receive friends from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm Tuesday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Va.
Mr. Mozingo was born in Pitt County on December 31, 1928. He was the son of the late Albert Mozingo and Mary Smith Mozingo. Mr. Mozingo served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the American Tobacco Company in Richmond, Va. for 18 years. Later, he operated TV repair shops in Richmond and Greenville and sold used cars. Mr. Mozingo attended Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Mozingo was married to the former Viola Jean Webb, who preceded him in death, September 30, 1997. On April 19, 2001, he married Almeda Lucille Daniels, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are four sons, William “Billy” Mozingo of Chocowinity, Ronald Dale Mozingo of Grimesland, Alton Ray Mozingo of Portland, OR, David Mozingo of Greensboro; one step son, Clifton Mercer of Vanceboro; three step daughters, Donna Grizzard of Chocowinity, Dee Ealy of Washington, Jan Lowe of Fredericksburg, Va.; two brothers, Lee Wallace Mozingo of New Bern, Guy Mozingo of Sandston, Va.; six sisters, Mary Ellen Mewbern of Farmville, Vera Manes of Ayden, Doris James of Charleston, S.C., Peggy Bright of Ayden, Helen Whitehurst of Maury, Shirley Moore of Zebulon; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Mr. Mozingo was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Mozingo.
