Mrs. Betty Hodges Leggett, age 64, of 105 Panticough Drive, Washington, died Friday, May 29, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 1, 2009 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral service with Minister Jim Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Chris DeJong, Craig DeJong, B.L. Eaborn, Clyde Harris, Mike Hodges and Joshua Latham will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 E, Washington, NC.
Mrs. Leggett was born on January 3, 1945 in Beaufort County to Wilson and Callie Ebron Hodges. Betty graduated from Bath High School in 1963. On February 7, 1965 she married Lewis Corbett Leggett, Sr. They made there home in Beaufort County where they raised their family. Mrs. Leggett was employed as a Department Manager at Wal-Mart for 20 years and later as a door greeter before retiring due to declining health. She enjoyed life with a passion, traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Betty was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Lewis Corbett Leggett, Jr. of Washington; one daughter, Melody L. Huss and husband Ron of Chocowinity; and one brother, C.C. Hodges and wife Myrtle of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joyce Harris.
