Marjorie M. Swindell 1916 – 2009

Marjorie Midyette Swindell, 92, of Engelhard, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Cross Creek Health Care in Swan Quarter.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter. Private burial will follow in Amity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lake Landing. The body will lie in state until the hour of the funeral at the funeral home.
Born in Hyde County, Ms. Swindell was the daughter of the late Little Samuel Midyette and Lucy Spencer Midyette. She was educated in the Hyde County schools and served as Clerk and Deputy Clerk of Superior Court of Hyde County along with her late husband, Melvin M. Swindell, for fifteen years. She was a member of the Soule United Methodist Church and later of Amity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Roger Swindell of Hyde County and a daughter, Gloria S. Lowe of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, two of which are deceased. She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin M. Swindell, a son, Gene A. Swindell and a daughter, Sybil C. Swindell.
The family will receive friends at Soule United Methodist Church following services from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
