Mrs. Mary “Maryal” Smith Stox

WILLIAMSTON — Mrs. Mary “Maryal” Smith Stox, 84, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral services are private.
Mrs. Stox, a native of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, had been a resident of Pitt, Washington and Martin Counties since 1945. For 22 years she was employed with Weyerhaeuser as a Wood Product Supervisor. She was an Ambassador for the Senior Games in Pitt County where she was a devoted participant. For a number of years she was a water safety instructor for the Red Cross, teaching many generations of children life saving techniques and swimming. Mrs. Stox enjoyed many hobbies, bingo, bowling, and especially “the water”, and also had a special love for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her: daughter, Joyce Stox Griffin and husband, Donald Wayne; sons, David W. Stox and wife, Martha D., all of Williamston, and Danny L. Stox and wife, Deena T., of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Rob Griffin, D.J., William, Patrick and Tyler Stox; great-granddaughter, Robin Griffin; and brother, David C. Smith, of Port Huron, MI.
