Mrs. Helen Carawan Roper

Mrs. Helen Carawan Roper passed on to glory on Tuesday, June 23rd, after being blessed in this life with 94 years. 
She was born in Lowland, NC on June 18, 1915 to “Kitt” and Minnie Carawan. She was predeceased by her parents, older sister, Lottie, and her husband of 62 years, Linwood W. Roper, Sr. Helen lived in Bath as a newlywed and moved with her family in 1956 to Raleigh, NC, where she lived for 38 years. She was a member of the Brooks Avenue Church of Christ there. After her husband retired, Helen and Linwood moved to Hartsville, SC to be near their son. They returned to Bath one year ago and remained in remarkable good health until just recently.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Roper, Jr. and his wife, Sarah of Bath and her brother, Chris C. Carawan and his family of Columbia, SC.
Services will be at the St. Clair’s Church of Christ, Bath, NC on Friday, June 26th at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Bayview Cemetery, Bath NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center Foundation, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
