Barbara D. Pugh 1937 – 2009

Barbara Davis Pugh, 72, of 40360 U.S. Highway 264, The Ponzer Community, Belhaven died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at her home.
Born in Ponzer, June 11, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Felix A. and Blanche Radcliff Davis. She graduated from the former John A. Wilkinson High School and was married to Richard Wayne Pugh, Sr. on February 5, 1956. He preceded her in death. She and Richard built Pugh’s Gas Mart in Ponzer in 1986 and operated that until the 1990’s.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ and the Ponzer Volunteer Fire Department where she devoted much time and loved to spend time with her two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, Ponzer. Keith Hamm will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Carr Baynor, Dean Armstrong, Chuck Dunbar, Timothy Mason, Eric Clayton and Johnny Stotesberry.
Surviving are two sons, Darrell R. Pugh and his wife, Brandy of Swan Quarter and Richard Wayne Pugh, Jr. of Ponzer; two grandchildren, Danielle Pugh and Carl Wayne Pugh.
Barbara was also preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Darlene Pugh in 1968 and her brother, Charles Ray Davis.

The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the funeral at the church and other times at the home.
