Chocowinity — Mrs. Keel Mills, 79, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Beaufort Medical Center.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park, Greenville, NC.
Mrs. Mills was born in Pitt County, but was a resident of the Chocowinity community of Beaufort County for the majority of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Grimesland High School. For 24 years she was employed as a teacher’s assistant at Chocowinity Primary School and was a member of Chocowinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Plummer N. Mills, a sister, Doris Mayo and five brothers, Billy, James, J.D., Melvin and Herman Adams.
She is survived by: a son, Nicky Mills and wife, Rachel of Chocowinity; two daughters, Peggy Rawls and husband, Jesse, of Washington and Betty Jo Whichard and husband, Tobey, of Washington; a brother, Bobby Adams of Chocowinity; four sisters, Lottie Beavers of Vanceboro, Mary Lee Coward of Washington, Mamie Forrest and husband, J.B., of Ayden, and Shirley Potter of Washington; five grandchildren, Jesse Thomas Rawls, III of Atlanta, GA, Joseph Monroe Rawls of Queensbury, NY, Ashley Mills Tripp and husband, Chris, of Greenville, Kristen Nicole Whichard of Greenville, and Brandon Michael Whichard of Washington; and one great grandchild, Krissie Grace Tripp of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
