Mrs. Eunice Boyd Gurganus

Mrs. Eunice W. Boyd Gurganus, age 84, a resident of 2569 Hwy. 92 East, Washington went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday July 7, 2009.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday July 10, 2009 at the Bath Church of God officiated by Pastor Ronald R. Bousquet, Jr. and Pastor David C. Linton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Carl Kelly Gurganus, Jr., William Gray Gurganus, Floyd Gurganus, Shane Taylor, George Chrismon and Ottis Crisp, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Men of the Bath Church of God will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Gurganus was born in Beaufort County on December 19, 1924, daughter of the late Rufus Boyd and Sarah Barbara Warren Boyd. She married William Ott Gurganus who preceded her in death on August 9, 1982. She was a charter member of the Bath Church of God which was established in 1957. She was the church clerk since 1972, secretary of the Sunday School Department since 1962 and obtained 29 years of Sunday School perfect attendance.
She is survived by her sons: William Ott “Billy” Gurganus, Jr. of Washington; still daughter in law, Betty Gurganus of Greenville; Carl Kelly Gurganus, Sr. and his wife, Juanita of Washington and Dwayne B. Gurganus and his wife, Martha of Bath; her grandchildren: Jennifer M. Taylor and her husband, Shane, Carl Kelly Gurganus, Jr., Belinda Jo Edwards and her husband, Aaron, William Gray Gurganus, Bridget Marie Gurganus and Sarah Elaine Gurganus; her great grandsons: Jonah P. Taylor and Nicholas Edwards; her great granddaughter: Shana Esther Taylor; her sister: Ruby Lee Boyd Crisp of Chocowinity; three sisters-in-law: Pearl R. Boyd, Bonnie W. Boyd and Marie W. Boyd and her faithful phone-a-visit friend, Erma Whitaker. She was looking forward with great anticipation to the upcoming birth of her great granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gurganus is preceded in death by four sisters: Dora Elizabeth Chrismon, Hilda Josephine Boyd, Bessie Rachel Boyd and Retha B. Taylor and four brothers: Charlie Rufus Boyd, William Warren “Bill” Boyd, Jatha Edison Boyd and Carmer Philmore Boyd.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Bath Church of God and other times at her home located at 2569 Hwy. 92 East, Washington.
