WASHINGTON — Ronald Gene “Ronnie” Edwards, 72, died Thursday, July 09, 2009.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Edwards, a native of Pitt County, moved to Washington in 1977. He worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a supervisor for 30 years. After his retirement he worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven O. and Elmo G. Edwards, and a daughter, Brenda Leigh Edwards.
He is survived by his: wife, Betty Cox Edwards; son, Brandon Barnette, of Greenville; daughter, Elizabeth Mae Edwards, of Washington; grandsons, Joshua and Allen Michael Markland, of Washington; and sisters, Dorothy E. Baker and LaRue E. Jones, both of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
