JAMESVILLE — Victor “Wayne” Modlin Sr., 57, of Jamesville died July 8, 2009. The funeral service will be held Sunday July 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Weaver and Rev. Doug Stokes officiating; burial will follow at the Jamesville Cemetery.
Wayne was born in Williamston NC on December 25, 1951 the son of Deslea Mobley Modlin and the late James Dalma Modlin. He graduated from Jamesville High School in 1970 and Pitt Community College in 1972.
Wayne was a volunteer firefighter for the Jamesville Fire Department for 17 years and an E.M.T/B for the Jamesville Community E.M.S. and Rescue from 1986 to the present. He was a North Carolina State Certified Level 1 Instructor and a certified CPR and First Aid Instructor. Wayne was proud to have participated in bringing the Enhanced 911 System to Martin County by serving on the Communications Advisory Board.
He was employed by North Carolina State University Department of Entomology College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for 36 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 39 years Betty Dare Hardison Modlin, son Victor “Wayne” Modlin Jr and wife Amy Scarbraugh-Modlin, granddaughter Courtney Modlin, brothers Jimmy Modlin and wife Pat, Roger Modlin and wife Ann, and Eugene Modlin and wife Betty Lou.
A devoted family man with a generous spirit, Wayne will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence 1250 Claude Mobley Lane.
Donations may be made to Jamesville Fire Department or Jamesville Community EMS and Rescue.
