WILLIAMSTON — The magic ran out for the Washington 10U, 12U and 18U All-Star teams on Saturday. Williamston’s 14U All-Star squad also was eliminated during the fourth day of the ENC State Babe Ruth Softball Tournament, held at Godwin-Coppage Park.
Washington’s 10U team fell 7-4 to Chatham County. The All-Stars needed to beat Chatham County and Pitt County on Saturday to advance to the championship round.
The 12U Washington squad lost to Pitt County for the second time in three days, falling 3-1 Saturday morning. Washington needed to knock off Pitt County and Laurinburg to reach the championship round.
Washington’s 18U team, which won its opener Friday, lost twice Saturday. It fell 4-0 to Williamston in the first game as former Lady Pam Pack star Charity Watson, pitching for Williamston, shut down the Washington All-Stars. Washington was eliminated after suffering a 7-3 setback to Pitt County.
Williamston will face Pitt County at noon today for the championship.
Williamston’s 14U team dropped a 4-3 decision to Henderson-Vance. The Williamston All-Stars needed to defeat Henderson-Vance and Pamlico to qualify for the championship round.
The tournament wraps up with today’s championship games.
