Mrs. Annie Vink DeJong

Annie DeJong, of 1058 Christian School Road, Pinetown, NC went to be with her Lord with her family by her side on Sunday, July 12, 2009.
She was born February 17, 1922 in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands to the late Gerrit and Annigje Vink. She was preceded in death by her son, John DeJong in 1999.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jake DeJong and her daughters; Ellie Dodde and husband Duane of Falmouth, MI, Gerda Rhodes and husband Ty of Plymouth, Irene Vander Weit and husband Ken of Belhaven; Pat DeJong, daughter-in-law of Pinetown. She is survived by one brother and one sister in The Netherlands.
She has 15 grandchildren; Juli Dick and husband Jerry, Craig Baas and wife Lois, Eric Baas and wife Sally, Alan Baas and wife Dana all of Michigan, Sherri Griffin and husband Steve of Bath, Erin Wallace and husband Erik of Durham, Ryan DeJong of Florida, Susan DeJong and fiancé Rusty Risher of Georgia, Daniel DeJong stationed in Hawaii, Anna DeJong of Greenville, Jacob Vander Weit, Phillip Vander Weit, Jessica Vander Weit and Rachel Vander Weit all of Belhaven and Devon Rhodes of Plymouth.
She has 13 great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Zachary Griffin, Anneliese Wallace, Lindsey, Matthew and Lucas Dick, Zachary and Chloe Baas, Olivia, Cameron and Emmitt Baas, Isaac and Henry Baas.
She married Jake on August 14, 1945 and immigrated to the US in 1951. She worked side by side on the dairy with her husband as well as being a full time homemaker. Her sense of humor was an endearing quality that will be missed by her family. She was a member of the Terra Ceia Christian Reformed Church and was involved with Bible studies and the choir for many years. She also was involved with activities of the Terra Ceia Christian School.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Terra Ceia Christian Reformed Church. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
