Annie Mae S. Curlings 1918 – 2009

Annie Mae Spruill Curlings, 90, a former resident of Creswell, died early Monday, July 13, 2009, at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Born in Washington County, December 28, 1918, she was the youngest of the fourteen children born to the late Absolom D. and Nancy Davenport Spruill. Orphaned by the age of 9, she went to live with her oldest sister, Claudia Bridgeman, after the death of her parents. She was married to Nathan P. Curlings at the age of 17 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity.
She was quiet, very devoted to her family, in fact her family was her world. Sadly, she was preceded in death by all three of her sons, Horace Curlings, Phillip Curlings and Jimmy Curlings as well as all of her siblings, and grandsons, Jackie and Edward Curlings.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia. Steve Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are a daughter, Annie C. Furlough of Chocowinity; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
