Washington City Manager James C. Smith announced in a press release Friday morning that Jimmy Davis, former Chief of the Washington Department of Fire-Rescue-EMS and Inspections, is no longer a city employee.
“State law allows me to confirm that the former City of Washington Fire Chief, James Laverne Davis, has been separated from his employment with and is no longer an employee of the City of Washington,” Smith wrote.
Smith had confirmed in June that Davis had been placed on administrative leave.
Smith wrote in his Friday release that state law prevents him releasing more detail unless Davis signs a waiver. The city proposed this through an attorney, and Davis declined through an attorney, Smith wrote.
