Mr. James Douglas “Don” Woolard

Mr. James Douglas “Don” Woolard, age 67, a resident of 6137 Apt. 2, River Road, Washington, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2009 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Rev. Leroy Alligood officiating. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Tyler Woolard, Billy Beacham, Bobby Boyd, Luke Cutler, Aaron McKinney, and Robby McKinney will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, NC and other times at the home of his daughter Kim Beacham, 3417 U.S. Highway 264 East, (Sherwood Forest), Washington, NC.
Mr. Woolard was born August 28, 1941 in Beaufort County to James Henry Woolard and Willie Mae Woolard. He graduated from Bath High School in 1959. Don retired from Weyerhaeuser after 37 years of service as a millwright due to failing health. He was a Navy veteran. He enjoyed talking on the phone and spending time with his family and friends. Don also had a tremendous love for softball and baseball, NASCAR and fishing.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Melton and husband Wayne, Kim Beacham and husband Billy and Carissa Jefferson and husband David all of Washington; one son, Chad Woolard and wife Tammy of Washington; one brother, Ricky Woolard and wife Barbara of Washington; two sisters, Olga Walter of Virginia and Tillie Boyd of Washington; three grandchildren, Ashlee Beacham-Cahoon, Staci Jefferson and Tyler Woolard; and one great-grandchild, Brody Cahoon.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Winstead and Glenda Jones.
