Mr. John Donato, age 81, a resident of 108 North McCaskey Road, Williamston, NC died Saturday August 22, 2009.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday August 26, 2009 at Everetts Baptist Church, Everetts, NC officiated by Jason Lineberger. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington.
Mr. Donato was born January 9, 1928 son of the late Domenic and Lucia Donato. He married the former Frances Mobley. Mr. Donato served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1968. He then worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1987. After moving to Washington in 1987, he volunteered with the Bunyan Fire Department. After moving to Williamston, he became a member of Everetts Baptist Church. Mr. Donato was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to travel with his wife.
Mr. Donato is survived by his wife of 16 years, Frances of the home; his son: Tony Donato and wife, Anna of Wake Forest, NC, his stepson: Reginald Taylor and his wife, Tammy of Windsor, NC; his grandchildren: Rebecca, Leanna and Philip Donato, Kellie and Jordan Taylor and his great granddaughter: Hannah Taylor.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Everetts Baptist Church and other times at the home located at 108 North McCaskey Road, Williamston, NC.
