Mayhew Clafton “Buddy” Williams, Jr., 50, of 4921 Sladesville-Credle Road, the Sladesville Community, died Sunday night, August 23, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Hyde County, June 2, 1959, he was the son of Nancy Newman Williams and the late Mayhew C. Williams, Sr. He spent his working life as a commercial fisherman and was well known within the seafood industry.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Providence Methodist Church in Swan Quarter. Mike Wheeler will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae F. (Peaches) Williams; his mother, Nancy Newman Williams of the Ponzer Community, his mother-in-law, Madaline Farrow of the home; his step-mother, JoAnne S. Best of Fairfield; two sons, William Wiggins of Norfolk, Va. and Yuwell Wiggins of Greenville; five daughters, Joretha Isby of Norfolk, Va, Dana Williams of Brunswick, Ga., Lakesha Davis of the home, April Armstrong of Chocowinity and Kimberly Thorogood of Va. Beach, Va.; a brother, Elwood L. Williams of the Ponzer Community; two sisters, Marilyn (Bit) W. Cahoon of Swan Quarter and Laura Ann W. Perry of Jamesville; seventeen grandchildren.
