James Redden “J.R.” Jenkins

BEAR GRASS — Mr. James Redden “J.R.” Jenkins, 84, died Friday August 28, 2009.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Rose of Sharon Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jenkins, a native of Beaufort County, had served in the United States Navy during WWII. He farmed in Beaufort and Martin counties prior to his retirement. He was a member of Rose of Sharon Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Lina Jenkins in 2001, and his 2nd wife Catherine Perry Jenkins in 2007; his daughter, Janice Jenkins Scism in 2008 and his brother Bobby Jenkins in 2007.
He is survived by his: son, Jakie Jenkins and wife, Linda of Bear Grass; grandchildren, Cheryl Johnson of Zebulon, Rebecca Jenkins of Bear Grass, Robbie Jenkins and wife, Stephanie, of Jacksonville, NC Amber Taylor of Washington, and Jackie Jenkins of Bear Grass; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, William Jenkins and wife, Pearl, of Williamston, and Allen Jenkins and wife, Scottie, of Raleigh; sisters, Myrtle Moore and husband, Paul, of Hendersonville and Geraldine Holliday of Williamston.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
