Mrs. Viola Cullipher Alligood, age 88, a resident of Washington, NC died Friday August 28, 2009 at Ridgewood Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday August 31, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. Caroline Pilgrim. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on January 1, 1921 daughter of the late John Abram Cullipher, Sr. and the late Annie Mae Gibson Cullipher. She was a 1938 graduate of Bath High School and married Wilber Earl Alligood on December 13, 1942 who preceded her in death on May 5, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Alligood is survived by a daughter: Jane A. Fisher and her Husband Joffre’ Robert Fisher, Jr. of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ernest N. Cullipher, John A. Cullipher, Jr. and Linwood L. Cullipher and four sisters: Nelda C. Cooper, Mary Ruth Windley, Annie Mae Cullipher and Helen Cullipher.
The family will receive friends 3 Pm to 5 PM Sunday August 30, 2009 at Paul Funeral home of Washington.
