Sallie Griffin Baker, 84, formerly of Greenville, died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Britthaven in Washington, NC.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Sallie Brown Griffin was born September 7, 1924 in Martin County the sixth child of Nicholas Roberson Griffin and Bertie Idell Manning. Her family moved to Washington when she was a young girl where she later graduated from Washington High School on May 15, 1942.
She is survived by her: daughter, Barbara Arnold and husband, Billy, of Washington; grandson, Jeffrey S. Allen and wife, Courtney; great-grandsons, Jordan Paul and Jacob Clay Allen, all of Raleigh; and nieces, Emma Whitehurst, of Grifton, Betsy Gurganus, and Mary Louise Taylor, all of Williamston.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 2425 South Charles Blvd., Greenville, NC 27858 where she was a member for more than 35 years.
