Two local road bikers completed a Double Century (200 miles) during a special event on Saturday. Kirk Harris, O.D., Doctors Vision Center, and Jonathan Kuhn, Washington Police Dept., (pictured) hosted the Cycle North Carolina event in the spring, which boosted area interest in the sport. A local cycle shop caters to cyclists with Inner Banks Outfitters and they sponsor morning weekend group rides. Dr. Harris said he and Kuhn set a goal of completing the Double Century over the weekend. The two, beginning their journey on a beautiful Saturday morning, completed 107 miles by lunch. Continuing into the afternoon and evening, the duo completed a 202.58-mile journey. The challenge took 11 hours of actual riding time. They cycled in Beaufort, Martin, Washington and Hyde counties, taking some of the lesser traveled back roads and enjoying the sunshine and scenery. (Contributed Photo)
