Bettie Frances Holloway, 87, of Wilmington, NC and formerly of Belhaven, NC, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Wilmington.
She was born in Beaufort County, NC, May 1, 1922, daughter of the late Albert N. Holloway and Jonnie Skiles Holloway.
Ms. Holloway was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and was an x-ray technician having worked in the medical field for over 60 years. She also was an ultrasound technician in Houston, TX. She was a past president of the North Carolina Society of Radiologic Technologist.
Ms. Holloway was an avid reader and just loved her friends and neighbors.
She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Belhaven.
Surviving is her daughter, Laura H. Sawyer and husband Carlton of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Dawn Hutchison of Wilmington, and Brian Hutchison and wife Jennifer and Kevin Hutchison and wife Kimberly all of Hickory, NC; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Luke, and Kamryn; and her beloved feline companion, Holly. One brother and sister preceded her in death.
Her family will gather to celebrate her life from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC.
