The Washington Pam Pack tennis team remained unbeaten after taking a 6-3 win over D.H. Conley in Thursday’s Coastal Conference action.
Beth Batchelor got Washington (6-0, 3-0) off to a solid start with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Virginia Webb at No. 1 singles.
“Beth played awesome tonight,” Pack coach Beth Pippin said. “She came to do business and that’s what she did.”
Hayley Stowe earned a 7-6, 6-1 win over Alicia Wall at No. 2 singles. Tierra Locklear recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Nikki Zimmer at No. 5 singles and Mary Potocki cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kate Hanley at No. 6 singles.
“Mary stepped in for Shannon Niederhauser, who could not be there tonight, and did a great job holding off Conley,” Pippin said. “Tierra was able to stay focused in her singles match which made us very happy.”
In other singles action, Conley’s Kelsey Martin won 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) over Janie Page at No. 3 singles and Courtney Gould took a 6-2, 6-4 win over D’lorah Pierce at No. 6 singles.
Washington won two of its three doubles matches. Batchelor-Stowe posted an 8-4 win over Web/Wall at No. 1, while Pierce/Potocki won 8-4 over Zimmer/Lyndsey Joyner at No. 3. Martin/Gould took an 8-3 win over Page/Locklear at No. 2 doubles for Conley.
“A great effort was put forth by all the girls to pull off our biggest conference competition,” Pippin said. “We are very proud of them and they should be proud of their team.”
Recording wins in exhibition play were Mary Margaret Fowle, Samara Romero, Kimberlyn Jones and Paige Ingalls.
The Pack plays host to Williamston on Monday.
