Mrs. Mary Bet Rogers Cox, age 91, a resident of 801 Horse Pen Swamp Road, Washington, NC died Monday September 14, 2009 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday September 16, 2009 at Snowd Branch Church of God officiated by Pastor Jerry Waters. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jarrod Cox, Joe Knox, Terry Clark, Zachary Clark, Joseph Knox and Tommy Lilley will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Cox was born in Martin County on May 24, 1918 daughter of the late Joseph J. Rogers and the late Cylabet Mizelle. She married Shade Heber Cox who preceded her in death on April 10, 1999. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and a member of Snowd Branch Church of God. She was a member of her church Ladies Auxiliary and the Adult Sunday School class.
Survivors include a daughter: Barbara Leggett and her husband Samuel of Washington; two sons: Steve Cox and his wife Brenda of Washington and Heber Cox of Washington; a sister: Ophelia R. Taylor of Williamston; four grandchildren: Christy Clark, Jarrod Cox, Mary Ann Knox and Cindy Woolard and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a sister: Maggie R. Bailey and three brothers: Roland Rogers, K.O. Rogers and Bill Rogers.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday September 15, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home located at 801 Horse Pen Swamp Road, Washington.
