CHESAPEAKE — Mrs. Verna Grace Rigby, 81, passed away Sunday September 13, 2009. She is now in the arms of our Lord. Born in Pinetown, North Carolina on January 5th 1928 to the late Elvy Holmes and Lena “ Betty” Waters, she was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetown. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, &wonderful friend to all that knew her.
She was predeceased by one brother Loyd Holmes Waters. She is survived by one sister Georgia Ann Taylor, by two daughters, Verna Mansfield and husband Gary, Betty Noel and husband Mike, and one son Daryl Rigby and wife Pam. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Brian, David, Amy, Stuart, Kimberly, &Joshua. 5 great grandchildren, Chloe, Alex, Samantha, Caleb &Cole.
Visitation will be at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, NC from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, September 15th. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday September 16th at the Waters Family Cemetery in Pinetown. There will be a celebration of her life, following services at the Pinetown Ruritan Club.
