Terrance Copper made his first reception as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, coming in Sunday’s 34-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Copper, a former standout at Washington High School and East Carolina, earned the start and had one catch for 8 yards. The catch, coming on a 4th-and-7, set up Kansas City’s second touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The catch by Copper, in his sixth season in the NFL, was his first since the 2007 season when he was member of the New Orleans Saints. His previous reception came in a loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship Game on Dec. 30, 2007.

MARISSA SMITH
Marissa Smith notched the first goal of her college career.
Smith, a former standout at Washington High School, earned her first collegiate start in Sunday’s 8-0 win over Mary Baldwin College. The freshman forward made the most of it, blasting in a goal at the 18:07 mark of the first half, putting the Monarchs up 2-0.
It was also Smith’s first shot on goal.
The Monarchs (5-5) play host to Averett University on Saturday.

Jeanna Buck, a former standout at Washington High School, attempted one shot for the Peace Pacers in Sunday’s 7-1 loss to Piedmont College.
Buck has played in all seven games for the Peace soccer team this season. The freshman defender/midfielder has started in five of those games. She has five shots, including three shots on goal, this year.

C.J. Wilson, the Conference USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, earned his first sack of the season. The East Carolina defensive end recorded the sack in Saturday’s 19-14 win over the UCF Knights.
Wilson, a former star at Northside High School, finished with 1.5 sacks for 11 yards in loss. The senior also had two tackles and two quarterback hurries.
He has 14.5 tackles, including 3.5 tackles-for-loss (14 yards), 1.5 sacks for 11 yards in loss, three quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery this season.
Wilson has 23 sacks, 38.5 tackles-for-loss, 24 quarterback hurries and 148 tackles in his career.
The Pirates (2-2, 1-0 C-USA) play at Marshall in a noon game Saturday.

Travis Daniels ran for a pair of long touchdowns to lead UNC-Pembroke to a 43-3 win over Lane on Saturday.
Daniels scored on runs of 36 and 31 yards in the win.
The former Washington Pam Pack star scampered for 124 yards on 11 carries (11.3 average).
For the season, Daniels has rushed for 562 yards and five scores on 74 carries (7.6 average). He also has six catches for 70 yards.

Jamont Jones had three kickoff returns for 65 yards (21.7 average) for the Bears in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 14-9 loss to Brevard on Saturday.
The former Washington Pam Pack star also had two tackles, including half a tackle for loss.
Jones, a special teams standout, has 11 kickoff returns for 335 yards (30.5 average), which includes a 94-yard return for a score, and three punt returns for 41 yards (13.7 average). The starting defensive back also has one interception, 14 tackles and one blocked kick.
