Mrs. Hazel Rogers Maggio

Mrs. Hazel Rogers Maggio, age 86, a resident of 201 Ellison Drive, Washington died Sunday evening September 27, 2009.
Mrs. Maggio was born in Beaufort County on June 25, 1923, daughter of the late Joe M. Rogers and Alice Jackson Rogers. She was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School. On November 27, 1948, she married Joseph Maggio who preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. She was employed with the nursing home system as the food service director. She was a member of the United Church in Norwood, Massachusetts.
She is survived by her daughters: Cindy Callahan and her husband, Frank of Washington, Nancy Royal of Washington, Lynn Riggio and her husband, Joseph of Winnetka, IL and Janice Maggio also of Washington; her son: Ronald Maggio and his wife, Diane of Norwood, MA; her brothers: Joseph Rogers of Washington and Robert “Budd” Rogers and his wife, Lois of Foxboro, MA. Her grandchildren include: Ryan Callahan, Michael Maggio, Melissa Maggio, Mark Maggio, Andrew Royal, Jennifer Royal, Jack Riggio, Isabel Riggio and Thea Riggio. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Gaston Rogers, Archie Rogers, Loris Rogers and Milton Rogers and her sisters: Reba Kutzer and Ava “Sweetie” Engstrom.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday September 29, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home located at 201 Ellison Drive, Washington. Mrs. Maggio will be interred beside her husband in Massachusetts at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
