Dr. Thomas F. Ertle

Dr. Thomas Francis Ertle, age 58, a resident of 487 East St., Belhaven, died Monday September 28, 2009 at his home.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday October 3, 2009 at the John A. Wilkinson Center and will be conducted by Pastor David Pierce.
Dr. Ertle was born in Camden, New Jersey on August 19, 1951 to the late Francis Thomas Ertl and Betty Jane West Ertl. On April 15, 1978 he married Cindy Allen who survives. He was a 1969 graduate of Haddon Heights High School in Haddon Heights New Jersey, graduate of LaSalle College in Philadelphia, PA where he received a degree in Biology and a graduate of Temple University where he received a Doctorate in Podiatry. He was a former member of the Belhaven Rotary Club, a current honorary member of the Ahoskie Rotary Club, attended Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. Tom was past president of Hearts for Haiti where he led mission work teams to Haiti from 1984 through 2006.
Survivors include his wife Cindy Allen Ertle of the home, three sons; Thomas Matthew Ertle and wife Eden of Pasadena, MD, Luke Allen Ertle of Greenville, NC, Jeff Deshomme, of Belhaven, NC, two brothers; Francis Thomas Ertl, Jr. of Raleigh and Stephen Francis Ertle of Washington Township, NJ, two sisters; Ann Marie Ertl Ciara of Reisterstown, MD and Linda Marie Ertl Exley of Voorhees, NJ.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday October 2, 2009 at the John A. Wilkinson Center and other times at the home 487 East St., Belhaven, NC 27810.
